Never FORGET!

eagle.jpg

One Tuesday in September
with a flash in the sky
Countless lives would be changed
and heroes would die

They answered the call
as they always do
But this day was different
as all of them knew

They entered the towers
with fear but still brave
One thought on their minds
"there are people to save."

Like angels and saints
they went racing in
A race against time
that some did not win.

Thoughts of saving others
the only thoughts on their minds
Not one single person
would they leave behind.

With others running out
they charged in so strong
So many that entered
will be gone for too long

The numbers they saved
are incredible indeed
Through their actions that day
an entire country was freed

Their actions define BRAVERY
a word heard every day
But when we talk about them
its never been used in this way

We call them heroes
but don't say it to them
They'll only deny it
they stay modest to the end

The heroes they'll say
are the ones that are gone
They sacrificed everything
so others could go on

Words can not express
the admiration we feel
For those who save strangers
we just thank God they are real

So next time you pass
a hero like this
Acknowledge their worth
with a "hello sir or miss"

The country will mourn forever
this tragic day
When so many of our heroes
were suddenly taken away

But rest assured
the next disaster we face
These brave men and women
will have more heroes in their place

On that Tuesday in September
with that flash in the sky
Countless lives changed forever
BUT OUR HEROES DID NOT DIE.

Early one morning - a September Day
People headed out- on their merry way
Day turned to darkness- with us asking why
Planes of pleasure -forced from the sky

America was dealt -a cowardly blow
Its world trade centers -were targets below
Planes headed down- driven by hate
Pictures of horror -were the victims fate

If the towers could have- held out a hand
They would have cradled- their fellow man
All they could do- was shed a tear
pilots of evil -were drawing near

Explosions ,fire, smoke- filled the air
Destruction and chaos- was everywhere
The pentagon suffered- a spineless attack
Heroes had taken -another plane back

Rescue workers-arrived on the scene
Risking their lives- remaining serene
Crashing towers- buildings in flames
Innocent lives lost-so many names

United we stand -Red White and Blue
In God we trust - seeing us through
May his hand guide -all that we do
God Bless America-Red White and Blue
